by Sir John Wilson. Published in 1952 by the Dropmore Press, over 500 unumbered large pages. The extensive catalogue describes in detail the collection of Great Britain and Commonwealth, the most valuable in the world. Considered to be the finest philatelic book ever made, produced on the highest-quality paper, extensively illustrated with 52 black & white plates and 12 lithographed colour plates. This de-luxe edition bound in red Nigerian Morocco leather (One whole goat skin used for each volume) with gold Royal coat-of-arms and lettering, raised bands on spine, gilt edging on top of the pages. A scarce and magnificent publication, awarded the Crawford Medal in 1953. In superb condition with the slipcase more worn and cracked at edges (as usual). Included is the more scarce prospectus (16 large pages including one colour and two monochrome plates), issued to promote the sale of the handbook. Covers slightly spotted, otherwise fine condition.
